Though Google’s official Android devices i.e. Nexus phones, tablets and other gadgets are delayed for launch in India, Google can’t simply ignore India for Android penetration. Actually Google is all set to roll out Android Nation branded retail store across the country by partnering B.K.Modi’s Spice Global.
India will the second country to have Android Nation stores after Indonesia where Google has partnered local electronics retailer Erafone, and operates two such stores in Jakarta since mid 2012.
Though there is no time frame when Android Nation store will be opened, it has been informed that first store will go live in Delhi’s Select Citywalk later this year. More stores will be followed soon. Currently Spice has its own electronics retail presence in India market under Spice Hotspot brand and with nearly 900 stores. As it was decided, Spice will transform 50 of its Hotspot stores into Android Nation.
These stores will not only sell Google’s Nexus devices, but also to provide complete Android experience including devices from different brands like Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG and Asus. Visitors can try out Android apps, download/update softwares and get all ammenities under one roof Apple Stores -like experience. These will act more like showrooms where you try and buy.
Spice Group told they will focus on 3G devices, and eventually phase out 2G. The company which has presence in Middle East, South East and African countries, is in talks to roll out AN retail store in such countries.

Google helped Spice to tie up with Chinese manufacturer Coolpad to launch Coolpad smartphones and tablets in India. Spice announced the first Coolpad device in the country – Mi 515 at just Rs 9990.
